This role is fully on-site and combines strategic planning with practical, “roll-up-your-sleeves” work supporting end users, managing infrastructure, and coordinating with vendors.

You will report to the Vice President and collaborate closely with leadership and staff across the company.

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Oversee on-site IT infrastructure at the Sackets Harbor office (servers, network, Wi-Fi, storage, printers, conference room tech, etc.).
  • Support connectivity and secure access for remote employees and contractors (VPN, Terminal Server environment, remote access tools, collaboration platforms).
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of systems and applications.
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity processes.
  • Support contractors and employees in the field (may require travel).

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices (firewalls, endpoint protection, MFA, patch management, secure configurations).
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents; manage user access, permissions, and identity management.
  • Help ensure compliance with any applicable regulations, contracts, or client requirements related to data security.

End-User Support

  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated IT issues; oversee basic help desk processes and ticketing.
  • Onboard and offboard employees and contractors, including accounts, devices, security access, and training on AMS systems.
  • Maintain IT documentation, how-to guides, and basic training materials for staff.

Systems & Applications

  • Administer core business systems (e.g., email/collaboration suite, file storage, line-of-business applications, remote access tools).
  • Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve efficiency, security, and user experience.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, MSPs, and service providers when specialized support is required.

Team Management

  • Provide direction to any IT support staff and/or outsourced partners.
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of projects and support requests.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, with at least [2–3] years in a senior or lead technical role; prior experience as an IT Manager or similar is a plus.
